    3. If they don't go to both lists we should be informed of that. You answer something and it don't get to the person who requested it. I think I'm done answering any but mine. They can be identified by the initial sentence of the message: "This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list." In the past, the name and email address of the poster to the message board were included in the message, so it was possible to send a reply to the poster. That has changed with the recent modifications in the RootsWeb mailing system, making the gateway system totally dysfunctional, in my mind. It's impossible for a list member to respond to a message board poster without registering, logging in, etc. Responses instead get sent to the list and the person who posted to the board has no clue that there was ever any response. 3. I don't recall any gateway messages posted to the NYJEFFER L list before Pat took it over. But as age creeps up on me maybe I missed them. I am not going to register to reply to a message - My machine keeps dropping the log in and when I try to get another - don't succeed so I ain't a gona register The next thing they will charge you as they do on the donated genealogies. 3. Agreed. The gatewayed messages seem to be something new. -- Bob Forsythe Permit Project Manager Endangered Habitats Conservancy 619/584-4143 Quoting Alice Corbett <[email protected]>: > I don't recall any gateway messages posted to the NYJEFFER L list before > Pat > took it over. > But as age creeps up on me maybe I missed them. > > I am not going to register to reply to a message - My machine keeps > dropping > the log in and when I try to get another - don't succeed so I ain't a > gona > register > The next thing they will charge you as they do on the donated > genealogies. > Alice Corbett > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "kql" <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Thursday, January 18, 2007 11:13 PM > Subject: Re: [NYJEFFER] messages > > > > Alice Corbett wrote: > >> If they don't go to both lists we should be informed of that. > >> You answer something and it don't get to the person who requested it. > >> I think I'm done answering any but mine. > > > >> I just tried to answer on the message boards but you have to register > to > >> do > >> so I can't be bothered with that so if someone wants to relay this > >> message, > >> I would appreciate it. > > > >> Alice Corbett > > > > The message board posts have always been gatewayed to this list.
