The volunteers don't have any more information about what's on any given film than the patrons do: what's in the online catalog is all that's known. In this case, I gave you what the cataloging shows: Census records, A-H 1835 895239 Census records, H-W 1835 895240 Fortunately, Alice was familiar with the films and could explain the distinction between them.
