Is anyone researching the CHANCY SMITH family of Watertown? I have been hitting dead ends trying to find an obituary for my great-great-great-grandmother Maria VAN SCHAICK She married Hooker DORCHESTER in 1825 and had had children by him: Martha, Andrew, Alvira, Catherine, and Caroline Dorchester. Hooker Dorchester died in 1835 and Maria subsequently married Chancy SMITH. They had several more children. Chancy Smith died in 1893 and Maria about 1895. They are buried in the Muskellunge Cemetery on Cape Vincent (I think) Has anyone ever seen obituaries for either Chancy or Maria? What about their children? Is anyone researching their family? I would like to hear from anyone who is researching this line. I will share any information I have. If someone can provide me with an obituary for these family members I'll gladly pay reasonable fees for the time and materials.
