Harriet A. Carter Ray, 95, Route 8, Cold Brook, NY, formerly of Watertown, died Friday at St. Lukes Memorial Hospital, Utica, after a short illness. The funeral will be at 1 PM Monday at Autenrith Funeral Home, Newport, with Rt Rev Henry L. Atwell, Mrs. Ray's son-in-law and rector of St. Mark's Southern Episcopal Church, officiating. Spring burial will be in North Watertown Cemetery. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Rose Townsend, Adams Center, Mrs. Samuel (Ruby) Powell, Fairfax, VA and Mrs. Henry (Beverly) Atwell, Cold Brook, with whom she lived, 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, and a brother, Albert Carter, Cornwall, Ontario. A daughter, Alice Spencer and a son Henry Ray died before her. She was born October 18, 1894 in London, England, a daughter of Albert and Emma Chapman Carter. She married Henry U. Ray in London on November 7, 1915. He died in 1940 in Watertown. The family moved to Cornwall, Ontario in 1919 then in 1923 to W! atertown, where she lived until moving to her daughter's home in 1972. She was a member of St. Mark's Southern Episcopal Church.
