Cathy R. and Tommy Hamilton, with whom she lived. Mrs. Townsend was a merchandiser for Sears, Roebuck and Co., Watertown, from 1959 until retiring in 1981. Born Sept. 24, 1919, in Cornwall, Ontario, daughter of Henry and Harriet Carter Ray, she graduated from Watertown High School. Following graduation, she worked at F.W. ROSINA TOWNSEND Watertown Daily Times (NY) April 16, 2006 Rosina D. Townsend, 86, of 14001 Route 11, died Friday evening at the home of her daughter and son-in-law the Rev. Cathy R. and Tommy Hamilton, with whom she lived. Mrs. Townsend was a merchandiser for Sears, Roebuck and Co., Watertown, from 1959 until retiring in 1981. Born Sept. 24, 1919, in Cornwall, Ontario, daughter of Henry and Harriet Carter Ray, she graduated from Watertown High School. Following graduation, she worked at F.W. Woolworth Co. and later was a switchboard operator for New York Telephone Co., both in Watertown. A marriage to Harold Claude Townsend ended in divorce. Mrs. Townsend was a volunteer at the House of the Good Samaritan, later Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, from 1982 to 2004; at Adams Center Library and at North Country Children's Clinic, Watertown. She was a member of Honeyville Baptist Church, South Jefferson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5344 Auxiliary, Adams, and House of the Good Samaritan Auxiliary and enjoyed playing cards, knitting and reading. A longtime resident of Rodman, she moved in 1972 to Black River Road and in 1978 to Caird Road. She lived in Adams before moving in 1996 to Centennial Apartments, Watertown, and had lived with her daughter and son-in-law since March. Surviving besides the Hamiltons are a son and his wife, Michael and Mary Anne, Syracuse; four other daughters and three sons-in-law, Sharon and Edward Higgins, Adams Center, Sandra and Albert Smith, East Aurora, and Julie Panetta and Rebecca and Craig Wagner, all of Adams; a sister, Beverly Atwell, Cold Brook; 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Henry Ray, and two sisters, Alice Spencer and Ruby Powell, died before her. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Adams Village Baptist Church with the Rev. Nevario "Bud" Masters, pastor, and her daughter, pastor of Calcium Community Church, officiating. Burial will be in North Watertown Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to noon Monday at Piddock Funeral Home, Adams. Donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, 425 Washington St., Watertown, N.Y. 13601.
