Researchers who have written me about Wallace Littlefield: From time to time I am in receipt of queries regarding WALLACE LITTLEFIELD (b. Bellevelle, NY - 12-7-1842). He married before 1867 a Susan Elida (Eliza?) Lingenfetler of Clayton, Jefferson Co., N. Y. They had three children, the second and third of whom were born in Birch Run, MI in 1873. Wallace Littlefield deserted his wife sometime before June, 1884 when his wife and children returned to Jefferson County, N. Y. Most researchers have considered him "never heard from again." A gen.forum reader/responder sent the following helpful note last week (personally). From: Donna Whitehead Address: [email protected] Subject: Wallace Littlefield - Saginaw, MI, 1880 ".......I have a copy of the will of Polly Scott Littlefield dated March 25, 1887. In it she gives money to Wallace Littlefield's sister Emma Loomis to be used to buy property in Michigan that would then be leased to Wallace for a home for himself and his family and for their support. Another sum is to be safely invested by Emma to be used to pay out amounts to Wallace as she deems necessary for the support of Wallace and his family. After Wallace dies, then his children by his wife Mary are to inherit the land and leftover support money. The will states that Wallace's children by his former wife Elida are excluded from inheriting any of Polly's estate, even if Wallace and Mary have no living children." _________________________________________ By Shirley -- also in my file is additional insight on Wallace's circumstances and whereabouts -- this came to me through WorldConnect from Sheila Tate: "Sheila Tate 2006-04-20 16:21:06 According to 1915 obit of Wallace's sister, Emma L. Littlefield Bishop Loomis, Wallace was in Flint, Michigan at that time. Per obit "is aged and infirm and unable to attend funeral."
