Author: FPage506 Surnames: White, Page, Holloway, Farrar, Ros Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.jefferson/12821/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have been researching David White, born Grindstone Island 27 Mar 1812, died 1889 Edmeston, NY [my Gt, GT, Grand father]for a number of years. His wife Arvilla Button, 1818- 1903 and children all born Grindstone Island, Spencer 1836, Henry 1838, Caroline 1844, Francis 1847, Marcus 1849 and George 1854 [my Gt, Grandfather]. On the death certificate for David and George it states Greenstone Island, however I just found the obit for Marcus and it states Jefferson Co., so I'm now sure Grindstone Island is correct. The family is listed in the Clayton 1850 census moved to Plainfield, Otsego Co. NY. by 1860 as they are in that census. An information you may provide on the family will be most helpful and I will be happy to pay whatever the charge maybe. Thank you. I did just find that this Daniel D. Butts is listed in the 1872 Triangle Business Directory. (Whitney Point was in the township of Triangle back then) He had a business called Butts & Gardner which said "house and sign painters, grainers & paper hangers". If you are interested, I took photos of the inside of the church which he did. It is "tromp l'oiel" wood trim. (graining?) Butts who was an artist and musician, who painted very realistic decorative murals in the Whitney Point Episcopal Church in 1872. Could he be the same? I would like to know more about him. Supposedly he went door to door collecting unused instruments and got up a community orchestra. The murals are beautiful...they look like ornate 3D wood trim.
