    3. Sharon, I believe the Depaullville should be DEPAUVILLE if it is in New York State. It is about 15 mi NW of Watertown on Route 12 on the way to Clayton, NY. Re: Ivory at Henderson, NY. - I live next door to the Henderson Historical Society and recently joined it. However, it is closed for the winter. A plus, they are having a Christmas party there Dec. 20 (next Monday) and I will be there. Before they closed I was reorganizing Surname notebooks. I remember something about a gentleman, Mr. Ivory. I vaugely recall that he was blind. Will try to get a copy of that Ivory info for you that day, conditions permitting. ha. ha. Pass this info along to Mary Lou if necessary. 3. Just wanted to mention that Frank W. Woolworth, founder of the Woolworth enterprise, also was born in Rodman in 1852. He was permitted to introduce the 5 cent counter at Moore & Smith, a hardware store I believe. He persuaded Mr. Moore to aid him in setting up his own 5 cent store in Utica. In the ten years following he opened 23 stores in: NY, PA, NJ, DE and CT. I do not have the rest of the story. Re: Migration - The 1850 Federal Census Index book for New York State is contained in TWO 3-inch thick books. The 1860 Federal Census Index required only ONE 3-inch thick book. 3. Open note to Mark Wentling and the list Mark, You have a really good, unique website, the only one I've ever seen laid out that way. I also checked some of the small notes at the top, found your Sackett's page, and I want to thank you especially for putting that out for us. It's a far, far place from where I live and I will not likely get there, so I appreciate your giving us some insight into the area, it's history, and those pictures of long ago days when my family did live around there. And, for your personal memories of the area. Great site, Mark, good job, and if some of you didn't check it, at least look at his Sackett's page. http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~legends/sackets.html Billye D. 3. Dear Cheryl; I just got back on as my computer was down. My gggrandfather was George S. Barnett and was born ca1809-1813 in St. Lawrence Co., New york. He is buried in Hermon, New York in Marshille Cemetery. His father is Cpt John P. Barnett and his mother was Abigail Rhodes. He married Sarah Ann (Sally) Allen. (she is suppose to be related to the Ethan Allen) b. 21 Jun 1813 in Pamelia, new York. (we have St. Law. Co. - is this too far away?? to be St. Law. Co....What co..is it Jefferson???) George died on 21 Feb 1850 at a young age. He is buried in Marshville Cem. l/2 mile south of Hermon New York. We would love to know what he died from. He was only 40+ yrs old. He is buried behind Charles Allen who died very young. We think this may be Sarah's brother. George and Sarah were married abt 1830 (in Jefferson Co.? or St. Law.?) She was only 16!!!! We don't know very much about her, but think her father was Edmund Allen (according to who lived together from the census's) and Elizabeth (Betsy) Caroline Woodworth was her mother. I would very much appreciate any thing you might be able to do to help me with this puzzle . I wish I could come to your area and spend a week. But my husband has cancer and will be undergoing bladder replacement surgery after the first of the year, so we have our work cut out for us now. Genealogy does help me keep from dwelling on it and then I don't race to the future ....Thanks for your message... Have a Merry Christmas.... Mary Lou Barnett Klemm

    3. Happy Holidays, Everyone, Do any of you have information, please, regarding families who moved from Jefferson County, NY to Lenawee County, MI in the early to mid 1800s? My JACOB/BOYNTON/McNEIL folks moved to Clinton and Tecumseh around 1832. Is there a place where I can read about this migration pattern? I do know that many families from Jefferson County, NY settled this lower SE Michigan County. Has anyone yet compiled a surname list of people who have this connection? I would be interested in corresponding with others whose families had this pioneer adventure. Thanks, Sherry

    3. Greetings, All, I am seeking any information on the following who were born or lived in Jefferson County and later moved to Lenawee County, Michigan: Sarah (Sally) JACOB b. 1800 Jefferson County, NY d. 1871 Tecumseh, Lenawee, MI m. BOYNTON (possibly Moses or John) Mary Ann BOYNTON b. 8 Mar 1820 Evans Mills, Jefferson, NY d. 12 Sep 1899 Tecumseh, Lenawee, MI m. 4 Jul 1836 Michigan Archibald McNEIL b. 23 Jun 1813 Jefferson County, NY d. 26 Sep 1883 Tecumseh, Lenawee, MI Sally JACOB and her husband moved to Lenawee County, Michigan in 1832 as settlers of Clinton Township. I do not yet know when Archibald went to Michigan, but he had a brother named Ira who also settled there. I have posted the obituaries for Archibald McNEIL and Mary Ann BOYNTON McNEIL on the Jefferson County obit page. Can anyone connect with these folks, please? Any clue, no matter how tiny, would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Sherry

    3. Hello everyone, I'd like to let you know that I have created a webpage dealing with the history and connected families of Rice's Corners Cemetery in North Adams. The page can be seen at: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~legends/ricecem.html I'll be updating it as time goes by, eventually with transcriptions of all the burials. For now there are some photos of burials. Hope it is helpful! Thanks, Mark
