Carolyn, I believe that is the cemetery at Sulphur Springs. If so, Exit 44 off I-81 and go west. Also from Route 3, go east and I believe the name of the road is Sulphur Springs road. I drive these roads and never pay any attention to road signs because I know how to get to where I want to go. This area is south of Watertown and north of Adams Center. Sluphur Springs is not on the road map, however, when you get there - there is a sign "Sulphur Springs". No stores. Just a fire dept. and church as I recall. Very nice area, very well kept. Thanks ladies for your typing efforts. I have my own copy of Childs. If it wasn't for your efforts on the Hounsfield pages, I would not have noticed a connection. Does anyone have any information on the Penny family from Hounsfield? Married my Wilcox cousin and I am trying to bring the line down. Sharon
Carolyn: If no one comes up with a list on the Internet for burials in the Muscalunge Cemetery, I will consider getting out the DAR list and retyping it. You may have a copy and anyone who wants it for his/her site may have it. Let me know if you need a lookup. And while we're on the subject -- has anyone recently seen the original records for this cemetery -- those for the Cemetery Association? My Dad had them in his dining room table in about 1988 -- supposedly showing them to some people from the "State of New York" who was doing an audit???? They wanted to take the records with them, but he wouldn't let them. After their visit, we all recall seeing the records on that table -- then they came up missing. He left the farmhome in 1990 and died that year. No ones knows what became of the records and they weren't found when we had the auction. Anyone have any ideas? Shirley
Oh well, thank you for trying anyway. I figured it wouldn't hurt to try. Barb
Would there possibly any Curtis or Kelly family buried at Muscalunge Cemetery? If so, could I possibly get their names so I can research them? Thanks, Barb
Carolyn: It's on Evans Road off Paddy Hill - across from the huge paper mill barn. Go about 2-3/4 miles out that road and it's on your right hand side. There's a little white cemetery building at the front left of the cemetery. You will have passed three huge farmhouses on your left as you go out this road -- only the first and third have barns. I assume you know where Paddy Hill is -- if not, as you come from Route 81 North from Syracuse take the Airport Exit (not really sure what the sign says -- it is the next exit beyond the Sackets Harbor/Arsenal St. exit) Rt.180?? -- take a left turn to go west and Paddy Hill is a small assembly of homes on the south side of the Black River down about 3 miles from the Watertown City limits. Evans Road goes up quite a little knoll on your left -- as I said across from the paper mill barns. On George Woolworth.. This may be a shot in the dark here but try Pinkney Corners Cemetary, in Lewis County. It's just outside Jefferson County up past Barnes Corners. There are a whole group of Woolworths buried there. I think i have a document with one of them on it as a matter of fact. I'll look it up today. They are somehow tied in with my family. Leona
Joe, Copenhagen is just over the line in Lewis County on Route 12 going out of Watertown to Lowville. You might try contacting the Flower Memorial Library , genealogy dept., 229 Washington St., Watertown, NY 13601. They have one book on some Lewis County settlers, plus a great many other resources. If you need the Town Clerk's address in Copenhagen, I have it plus a few others in Lewis County. Florence

Joe, for starters, Copenhagen is in Lewis County, not Jefferson. Close, but not in. Put a query in Lewis County for better coverage. Nan Dixon -- http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyjeffer/
Hi! Looking for any information on George WOOLWORTH and his wife, Cornelia STORTL. They had at least one child, Mary Cornelia WOOLWORTH (born 22 January 1868 in Copenhagen, Jefferson Co). I've just started looking at this family, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers! Joe SHAW Baltimore, MD

Hello I received the information to transcribe for Jefferson County, Philadelphia City Directory, but I lost your email address. Would you please send it to me. Bonnie in Idaho
As you suggested, glory books are not the only source of errors. I have a situation where my grandmother (a woman fluent in 12 languages) certified that she was born in Sirokany, Hungary and in another certified that she was born in Allisgriben, Austria. I haven't located either village, therefore I am unable to comprehend her actions. I've also noticed 'death certificates' are another source of errors, probably because of the stress of the moment.
