Trying to reach Jim Eagan about Jefferson County genealogy, but an email I sent this morning to <jeagan@ntcnet.com> bounced back as undeliverable. If you're out there, Jim, would you please contact me? Or can anyone tell me his current address, please? Thanks, Mark Wentling
Recently, a new Genealogy series has been mentioned as starting in June on one of the TV networks or cable Stations. Does anyone know what date and time it will start and on which network or cable station it will be shown? thanks Mike Kennedy Dayton Ohio

Hi List Readers I am studying the CORLISS family of Alexandria. I came across something that I am trying to confirm. Ida H. CORLISS born March 17th, 1856 and died December 1, 1911 married a GETMAN on April 21, 1881 (all dates copied out of a family Bible). I came across a Biography from Tulsa Oklahoma that said the GETMAN she married was Simon J. GETMAN. (the Bio was on son Roy GETMAN). Does anyone have information on which GETMAN line Simon J. came from. I know there are a lot of them in Jeff County. Also - Ida is daughter of Lyman CORLIS(s) and Louisa STONE. Thanks Kim

Dear listers: Hope you can help us on this one. Donald Wakefield sent in both queries and a Jefferson County Pioneer in the past. His address no longer seems active. If he sent in a change of address, it has been mislaid. If anyone knows a current address, could you send it to me personally at nandixon@gisco.net? Nan Dixon -- http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyjeffer/
I have seen mention of the Jefferson County Journal with reference to vital record notices. Where are copies of this journal kept? Are they in print and can they be purchased? Thanks for any information. Hi Kevin, In the Dorchester Family Chronicles, compiled by Earle and Pat Swanson in 1995, it states on page 46 that both Chauncey Smith and Maria were buried at the Market St. Cemetery in Cape Vincent. Chauncey died in 1893 and Maria on 6/23/1895. Unfortunately nothing is mentioned about obits. If you don't already have this book and would like it, let me know. Maybe these dates will help you find the obits. I have forgotten how you are related to the Dorchester's. I am Hooker's descnedant through his son Henry C. Good luck, Carolyn
<< Genealogy bookstore - U.S. >> What is the URL for the bookstore?
I must have been half asleep or so interested in telling about the bookstore that I forgot the most important items. Sorry about that. The bookstore is WILLOW BEND BOOKS. The URL is: http://www.willowbend.net Mike
I just found this store's web page and it looks great. Lot's and lot's of Genealogy books for research in the U.S. I haven't tried to order yet, so I don't know about service. It's worth a look at their lists. Mike

Is anyone researching the CHANCY SMITH family of Watertown? I have been hitting dead ends trying to find an obituary for my great-great-great-grandmother Maria VAN SCHAICK She married Hooker DORCHESTER in 1825 and had had children by him: Martha, Andrew, Alvira, Catherine, and Caroline Dorchester. Hooker Dorchester died in 1835 and Maria subsequently married Chancy SMITH. They had several more children. Chancy Smith died in 1893 and Maria about 1895. They are buried in the Muskellunge Cemetery on Cape Vincent (I think) Has anyone ever seen obituaries for either Chancy or Maria? What about their children? Is anyone researching their family? I would like to hear from anyone who is researching this line. I will share any information I have. If someone can provide me with an obituary for these family members I'll gladly pay reasonable fees for the time and materials. Sincerely, Kevin O'Brien Laguna Hills, CA Researching: Shannon Perkins Warner Dorchester Van Schaick Gorman Pinkerton Gauley Lowe Gillie Halley Smith (Jefferson County, NY's Smith's)
Ed, I have Bartholomew d 9/2/1907 he is in sec 1 lot 76. I read the stones in Glenwood but do not have all the material in the computer yet. I probably have his obit as I looked up a lot of the early deaths, You might try Clancy Hopkins I believe he might have something on this. Too bad I don't have my records in order - probably could do something for you. There are Gilligan, Kearns, Radian and Welch buried in the same lot. Hi, I'm researching the Cole family from Redwood and Watertown. My father was Wilfred, born in Watertown. His father was Eugene. Eugene's father was Horace. He is buried in Redwood, as is his wife Eva Loucks. I was recently told that Horace's father's name was Allen and was born in England. Does any one know which direction I should go from here? Cathy
