    1. Looking for!
    2. Donna Williams
    3. This is a wonderful list, and I have enjoyed receiving it. On one of the genealogy sites I saw a posting by a man named Clifford Williams, whom I believe to be a member of my family in some way. My father has told me many times that if i found him he thinks that he has been working on the Williams Tree for a long time. Clifford Williams would have been a member of the Operating Engineers Union out of Syracuse as was my father Donald Williams . If you are out there Mr. Williams please mail me, or if anyone knows this person could you forward my message.. Finding him would surely save me a ton of work!! Thanks so very much. 1. BARTLETTS' CEMETERY EPITAPHS
    2. Nancy Dixon
    3. Listers, The best possible news for Jefferson County researchers! Gus Rogers, whom many of you know from his helpful answers to listers' queries, together with his daughter Ellen and her husband John Bartlett, the Gravestone Scribes, have made available to the GenWebSite, their impressive work on the cemeteries of Jefferson County. The first one, a small sample, can be seen at http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyjeffer/bartlett.htm They have done 17 books in all, and they are sending them to the website electronically, which means we do no formatting or copying. It's a fantastic gift, both to us and to the genealogical community. John assures us that hard copies are still available from instone@aol.com This is a work in progress. They are still working, at the rate of one town a year, on the remaining 5 towns. All three of them have been staunch supporters of free genealogy, and they have certainly underlined their convictions with this gift. To those who wonder how we managed to persuade them to give us their work, you should know we never asked. This is their initiative. Thank yous can be sent to Gus at staero@gisco.net and John and Ellen at instone@aol.com Fantastic! Nan Dixon, listmaster -- http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyjeffer/

    2. Mark Wentling
    3. I would like to announce a new website created for the new Rock Island Lighthouse Keepers Memorial Association. The group is currently composed of descendants James Eagan, Twig Mills, and myself, Mark Wentling) of three different keepers of the lighthouse (William Johnston, Willard L. Cook, and Michael J. Diepolder, respectively). The website currently has historic background, photos, and a short page about all the former keepers that I know about. Please visit the website and feel free to share your thoughts and comments. Any information about the lighthouse you'd like to share would be sincerely appreciated. I hope you will all enjoy the site as it grows over the next few months! -- Mark A. Wentling Washington, D.C.

    1. Henry Casler and War of 1812
    2. FamHistory
    3. Hello Fellow Researchers, Can anybody give me a hand on the following: I'm trying to track down additional detail on a Henry Casler who was born c:1778 and supposedly lived in atleast Watertown and Turin during his lifetime. He married Marigrit (Mary) Dingman, reportedly had seven children, was a native of New York and fought in the War of 1812 and died between 1830 and 1850. My hope was to try to track down some info that would help from his military stint. To date I have found three references to the name Henry Casler in the War 1812 records. What I'm hoping is someone out there will know something about any of these Henry's that might eliminated them from my search (or firm up which one is mine). I've found: 1. Henry Casler, sergeant, that served in Capt. Darius Hawkins' Company, Bellinger's Regiment from May 11, 1812 through Aug 25, 1812. 2. Henry Casler, private, that served in Capt. Jasper Wood's Company, 14 Regiment (Stone's) from July 20, 1812 through Sep 3, 1812 when he enlisted in the rifle corps and was a substitute for David Bender(?), and 3. Henry Casler, private, that served in Capt. Benjamin Rudd's Company, Cleveland's Regiment from Aug 22, 1814 through Nov 16, 1814. If anyone can claim any of these Henry Casler's and/or give me more details on any of them or the Companies they served in (where recruits were from, etc) it would great. Does anyone know what year pensions were available (if ever) for the War 1812. I don't want to go digging for pension records if was after 1850. Are there abstracts available for the War of 1812 pensions? Judy

    1. BENNETT/DOLAN marriage
    2. Pam Thomson
    3. I've just heard that my GG grandparents were married in Sackets Harbor, where she was born, not in Ontario where they were living in 1861. It's also possible that they were in Jefferson County in 1871 as I can find them on the Ontario census then. His name was John BENNETT and hers was Elizabeth DOLAN. I believe they were married on 5 October 1855. Were marriages being recorded in any official way at that time or just by the churches?
