Diana, I am no longer associated with the Jeff Co message boards. You people are only seeing the tip of the iceberg...unless you happen to be a coordinator. I just received a THREE PAGE list of rules that YOU are supposed to abide by, and I'M supposed to enforce...you can forget that. Nothing in the rules relates to family history or genealogy. I'm outta here. Nan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Diana Law" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, December 08, 2006 10:20 PM Subject: Re: [NYJEFFER] Message Boards - Jeff. I've said for several years Ancestery.com was out to take over the Genealogy hobby and looks like the've done it.... I know they got their hooks into the Mormon library too, soo how much longer will that be free ? Would like to add my name to Diane's & Linda's sentiments. Hi All- Don't know if this has been mentioned but there is a a place at the bottom of the message board pages which is Send Feedback. Maybe if everyone that does not like what they have done emails them they will get the hint? I hope everyone emails them. That is sad, they are losing some good people. And they've made genealogy a money grubbing business instead of the pleasant hobby it used to be. Thanks for your years of service Nan. Linda
This is sort of a semi-annual posting. One of my main cul-de-sacs is Phebe or Pheobe Clark. Born 22 Nov., 1812, died circa 1851 at Great Bend. Married Harmon Samuel Griswald, 1827. Two children, Lucinda W. Griswald (Bevitt), born in the Summer of 1831 or 1832, and Augustus Damon Griswald. Lucinda married Thomas W. Bevitt and were my GGrandmother's parents. Phebe's father was James Clark, born 1769. Mother was Mary Larabee, no other information. I have no other information on her parents or their lines, although I will admit that I have not taken as much advantage of what is on-line these days as I should. I don't believe this is an Antwerp line since there are a ton of Griswalds buried in the cemetary in Great Bend. If someone can give me a track to follow, I'm more than happy to take it from there. -- Bob Forsythe Permit Project Manager Endangered Habitats Conservancy 619/584-4143

I just was sent a site called GenCircles, which looks promising and appears to be free. It may not be large, but it had some useful family tree information for me (and I've been doing this for a long time). And they do seem to be trying to get more people to become aware of it. Might be worth a try. I know I'll be going back. http://www.gencircles.com Citellus In a message dated 12/8/2006 5:43:22 PM Pacific Standard Time, [email protected] writes: > That's fine, they lose. WHEN SOMETHING WORKS WHY DO THEY HAVE TO MESS IT UP? DIANE
That's fine, they lose. The .net is anarchistic and if someone wants to make money from it, more power to them, but it's likely someone else will do it for free. Same here. I enjoyed browsing thru the boards, picking up tidbits here and there, no plans for anything specific, but enjoying the nuggets I found. Can't do that anymore. I hope the following helps some of our senior citizen list. AARP notified me they now have an on-line Defensive Driving Course equal to their 8 hour course. They recommend you contact your vehicle insurance company to see if they accept certification of this course for any discounts. The cost is: AARP Members, $15.95 and Non-members are $19.95. The driving course link is: http://www.aarp.org/drive/online I know this is kinda of an advertisement but I feel it would possibly help many who are watching their pennies. sincerely, bob langford sunny, but cold Florida
If we get to choose on whether we like this new board my answer would have to be "NO". You used to be able to scan up and down and look for items of interest not sit and wait for the next 10 to download.... The more they try to make it better the worse it gets. Better for whom? Leave things alone.... Linda

I got to the home page message board via Jefferson Co. website. However, the problem for me is: how does one post a message of inquiry there ? It appears that with the new system one has to REGISTER.
