But really ancestry.com is reasonably priced when compared to hiring a professional genealogist; the main difference is you pay ancestry by the year and a professional genealogist by the hour so you see your money go faster. Most professional genealogists that I know won't start at anything below $25 an hour. Give them just 12 hours and you're at $300 the same price as one year's worth of Ancestry.com's World Deluxe where everything is unlocked! I'm sure their primary objective, like any commercial enterprise, is simply in making a profit.
