Hi In the Gazetteer of Jefferson Co by Hamilton Child Township of Henderson page 448 paragraph 2 is information on Asa Bishop. I am away from my home so I cannot give you the details. If you wish to contact me again in another week or so, I can copy the info for you. Perhaps some one else can give you that. Sheila, The Woodside Cemetery is in Ellisburg. The only cemetery IN Belleville is a small Carpenter Cemetery on Route 289 adjacent to the bridge over one of the Sandy Creeks. Have you ever tried the Historical Association of So. Jefferson at 29 E. Church St., Adams, NY 13605. They have all the original Jefferson Journal newspapers (and on film also) dating back from about 1845-50. They also have Woodside Cemetery records there. They are slow to respond. I am researching the Pfaff family. Jacob (b 1832 Germany) and his wife Anna Catharine (b 1835) farmed south of Cathage. I don't have complete immigration info, but seems they came around 1851-1855. Their children, most born in Croghan: Louise Pfaff (1855-1895) married Julius Richter John Pfaff (1863-1935, buried Old Beaver Falls Cem) married Ardella Maurer - my g-grandparents Elizabeth Pfaff (1860-1913) married Henry Wisner Jacob Pfaff (1862-1940, buried Fairview Cem Wilna) married Lettie Gates Dr. Otto Pfaff (practiced Oneida) (1864-1948) married Adella Williams Henry Pfaff (1866-1904, buried Old Beaver Falls Cem) married Lena Nuffer Freddie Pfaff (1868-1874, buried Evangelical Methodist Cem, Naumburg) Philip Pfaff (1870-1957) married Helen Aubeuf Samuel Pfaff (1872-1929, buried Evangelical Methodist Cem, Naumburg) married Anna Merz My stone walls are 1) when did Jacob and Anna immigrate and 2) filling in members of the spouse families. I know very little about the Nuffers, Maurers, Gates, and Merzs. I know a bit about the Richters and Wisners. I have been all over Ancestry, Genealogy.com, Rootsweb surname groups, etc. I have some census data, but the Pfaffs seem to have avoided the census frequently. Any fills would be greatly appreciated. Rob Pfaff

I have three groups immigrating to Jefferson County: Shubael Little, b. 25 Aug 1790, Hillsborough, NH, d. 3 Oct 1847, bur. Sanford's Corner Cemetery, Le Ray. He married Deborah Barrows, 4 Apr 1819, at Hounsfiled (he was 'of" Brownsville). The 1820 Census shows him in Brownsville, and in 1822 he bought his first parcel of land. He was an elder in the "Christian" Church (a version of Congregationalism) and may have been associated with the union church at Sanford's Corner. I have considerable information on this family, but am particularly interested in more closely identifying when Shubael came to Jefferson County. Samuel and Azubah (Ransom) Barrows. He was b. 1764 Middleboro, Plymouth Co., MA; d. 14 Mar 1842, Russell, St. Lawrence Co., NY. She was b. 2 Jul 1773, Lyme, New London Co., CT; d. 2 Feb 1848, Williamstown, Pamelia, Jefferson Co., NY. They were m. 16 Feb 1791, Woodstock, VT. They resided in Vermont until at least 1810, but were in Jefferson County from 1818 (or earlier) until at least 1833 (when he sold property to Hezekiah Field). They are connected with the Fields of the Field Settlement (Hezekiah Field's wife was her sister). Their children are: Deborah (b. 1795), Unknown son (b. between 1796 and 1800, based on the US Census), Azem (b. abt 1807), and Sara Ann (b. abt 1814). My information on this family is sparse, and I am particularly interested in anything relating to the children. Joshua and Ruth (Freeman) Fredenburg. He was b. 14 Mar 1783, d. 6 Jul 1864. She was b. abt. 2 Jun 1784, d. 1 Mar 1854. All dates from gravestones in Sanford's Corner Cemetery in Le Ray. This family is a brick wall! The earliest firm date is that of the baptism of their son George (1805, Minden, NY). They resided in Pamelia by 1820. They had numerous children, and my family records indicate a number that cannot be found in any records. I also believe this family was associated with the union church at Sanford's Corners. Any leads on early records for this church are appreciated. I have pretty well combed the cemetery, Census, property and probate records for these families. Other especially helpful sources have been the transcriptions of marriage and death notices by Grace Moffett Lansing (the marriage of Shubael Little and Deborah Barrows), and the war pension records of Samuel Barrows. Additional information on these families is available at <http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~clyttle/JeffCoNY/index.html>.

In 1860 he is 12 years old and still with parents in Sandy Creek. In 1870 he is 22 years old and with lst wife Emma Twitchell in Sandy Creek. Emma Twitchell Bishop died before 14 Aug 1873 when Asa married Emma Loticia Littlefield in Ellisburg, Jefferson, NY. Asa and Emma Littlefield Bishop had one daughter, Ruth Minnie, born 23 Oct 1876. According to a newspaper account of the accident, dated Wed. 26 Sept 1877, the accident was "last Thursday", which would be 20 Sept 1877. Asa was carried to the Littlefield farm after the accident with little hope of his survival. He died, I assume at the farm in Ellisburg, on 8 Oct 1877. Pill boxes at Stony Point (I did not know those existed). I hope a few of you will find a picture that you recognize and can include it with your genealogy. Saw reference to an old cheese factory. Hi folks, Thanks to all who have answered the query I sent out on Saturday regarding Elisha G. Myers (a.k.a. Myres). I have not yet determined who his parents (or siblings) were, but I have assembled the information I was able to find and put it online here: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~legends/myres.html If you review this information and it rings a bell, or you have any direct information about Elisha's family yourself I would very much appreciate hearing from you. If anyone has access to the 1855 state census of Lewis County, NY, I would very much appreciate a look-up of Elisha, please -- the state census that year reported the county of birth. If anyone has access to the 1892 census of Jefferson County, NY, I'd appreciate a look-up in the Town of Leray to see if Elisha is listed there that year. Thanks! Mark
Good Morning Rob. Have you checked out http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyjeffer for your McPherson family? If not, go to the site, and put mcpherson in the search box. You will get 22 hits to check. Then go back to main page and click onto Site Index...scroll down until you come to the town of Lyme which encompasses Chaumont & Three Mile Bay. You will see Bartlett's cemetery records (transcribed from stones) show several of the McPhersons. Good luck in your search. Hi, Does anyone have any information about Elisha G. MYRES (also spelled MYERS)? He was born about 1810, was living in Deer River in 1840, and for 36 years prior to his death was a farmer in Lowville. He died in 1895 at the home of his nephew Horace S. Anable in the Town of LeRay, Jefferson Co., NY. The above is all from newspaper and census records. I am interested because Elisha is the brother of my grt-grt-grt-grt-grandmother Sally Myres, who married Abner H. Anable. I'm trying to determine the Myres ancestry. Here is the Anable genealogy: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~legends/annable.html Thanks, Mark Wentling
