    3. Phyllis and Denise, I wonder if we have a connection. I have a James Edward Johnston from Ontario, Canada. Born in 1852 in Ireland he traveled to Canada where he met and married Adeline Nesbit(Nesbet). His parents were Christopher and Margaret Johnston. James had several children, Margaret Mae1888, Frontenac, Archibald Wilfred,1894 Bell Rock, and James Edward b. 1890in Bell Rock,Canada. A girl, Sadie was born in Michigan in 1892. I find it hard to believe that James was an only child at this time in history. Happy New Year to all! Nancy Phyllis Putnam <[email protected]> wrote: Hi Denise, I don't think that I can help you. I am interested in this family only because Georgiana Johnson, daughter of Edward and Adelaide married into my Gosier (Albert, also known as Bert) family. I have that Georgiana had siblings Emma and Frank, I didn't know about Joseph and there may be more siblings. Georgiana was born, in Canada, May 10, 1873, seventeen years after Joseph. 3. I'm late, as usual, in welcoming Pat Regan as our new listmaster. She's had it for about a week, and WOW, look at what she's achieved! More traffic than we've seen in years, if not ever, and she's gone and got that gateway thing fixed up, and I suspect has done a lot more behind the scenes work. I'm still looking for the parents of one William Cupernall (spell that any way you feel like; our ancestors certainly did!) who was the grandfather of Ira Cupernall, my husband's grandfather. His parents were born probably in the Schoharie or Mohawk Vally, lived in the Town of Orleans, possibly in the Fishers Landing area, and may have had a daughter Rachel also. There were two, possibly three separate families in Jefferson County: one settled in the Town of Lyme area, and another in the Town of Theresa area. The one I'm looking for was certainly in the Town of Orleans, possibly born about 1800. Nan Dixon

    3. Gloria, Winston Churchill said something like "Never Give Up, Never Give Up, Never Give Up!" What sort of details do you have or proof of name change? I'm also curious why the name would have changed so drastically. Sounds like an occupational name. Where did they live in 1840 and do you have census data? Have you recorded all of the data from the various New York State census that might be available for this family, such as 1855, 1865, 1875, etc.? Are there any neighbors that report having been born in the same place as they did or that might have moved into that specific town at the same time? One of the questions on the 1855 is "How many years resident in this town?) They "might" possibly be related, if so, then you could work on them. Do you know if they came down from Canada or do you have any ship's passenger information? If they had lived for a while in Canada there are some excellent Catholic church records available that I have never used but have read about. LDS is still bringing more and more items on-line, (and also removing some,) so it might help you to take a trip to Salt Lake City and work with a French/German professional researcher out there. There are plenty of pros there that will sit with you for a couple of hours a day, for a nominal fee, and go over your research and give you many specific details to research there that might only be available in SLC. Check put some of the ideas and resources on my website and blog. Perhaps just one idea will send you off to something that you have never checked before. Happy New Year. 3. Hello: My 20 year search goes on...Michael Tisserand and Mary Catherine ? arrived 1830 from Alsace Lorraine, France, with daughter Catherine age 6. Name changed to English translation, Wever or Weaver, upon arrival. They were living in Jefferson County (Redwood) in 1850. Daughter married Joseph Senecal in 1839. I have searched records, town and county, Mormon church, newspapers, census, and followed up on all advise I've been given over the years. My search has never given me a clue to where the parents, Michael and Catherine arrived from France or if there were other children. I've about given up and I'm afraid the list is tired of hearing my once a year story. Happy New Year! Gloria, Fairport, N.Y.

    2. Hi Allie I am not sure either without checking my files. My files are still in a "dither" from Hurricane Wilma, but I have all the paper work. I know where the Nutting Families were located and might have something on her. Gonseth was from Switzerland. I was in College with a Gonseth from Brownville and he married one of my college roommates. They had 5 children. They divorced a number of years ago. However, he passed away about 2 years ago. Will check and get back to you. Cheers Pat R
