    3. Am I interpreting your note correctly - there is only one book from the Depauville MC in the archives and that is from 1884-1962? That would be after the time that C.L. Forbes lived in the area. Do you know if they are likely to have the records of Byron Alden and/or Moses Lyon? Are you also saying that the Depauville Methodist Church has no records prior to1962? Thanks for your help. 3. To add to the information from Pat R., the Depauville UMC is still active, and records should be held at the church/church office. You can contact the pastor, Donald Briant, at the United Methodist Church parsonage, Clayton, NY or at the Depauville UMC in Depauville, NY. The North Central NY Conference office at Cicero would only have records from churches that have disbanded. >Barbara > >Cyrus lived in Clayton and Depauville NY and later he lived in Patterson NJ. >He was a Methodist and perhaps the Methodist Archives would have some >information on him from when he was young and lived in Depauville, NY. He was a Methodist and perhaps the Methodist Archives would have some information on him from when he was young and lived in Depauville, NY. Their records might also include his parents. 3. Depauville always seemed to have a really good team when we had the Fireman Field Days in Carthage, so it brings up an interesting point - do most of the volunteer fire departments in NNY have old records of who was a member? 3. In the 1850 census for Clayton, Jefferson, New York there is the following household: Charles Forbes 30 b NY, Cynthia A 24 b NY, Ann 36 b somewhere I can't decipher, Jane 25 b NY, Joel 17 b NY, Joel 71 b Massachusetts, Abigail 58 b New Hampshire. Joel Forbes is also in the 1840 census for Clayton. He is in Ellisburg in 1820. In 1830 there is a John Forbes listed in Ellisburg which may be Joel - sometimes people changed back and forth between first name and middle name. In 1820 the only other Forbes in Jefferson county is Alores also in Ellisburg. In 1830 the only other Forbes in Jefferson county are Rudolph in Alexandria and Levi in Antwerp. The older Joel Forbes is not in the 1860 census. Although the 1880 and 1900 censuses both state that Cyrus Lewis's parents were both born in New Jersey I am guessing that this is not correct and that Joel and Abigail are his parents. 3. I cannot find the parents of Cyrus Lewis Forbes. According to family records, he was born in Clayton, Jefferson Co., NY on 5 November 1822. >From the Jefferson Co. I know of no children from this marriage. I have the marriage certificate from his marriage to Miss Laura A. Sturtevant on 25 December 1852 in Depauville. The ceremony was performed by Moses Lyon. Laura and Cyrus Forbes were my g g grandparents. They later moved to Paterson, NJ. I have found him in Clayton, Jefferson Co in the 1860 census with his wife, Laura and his children, Sarah, Celia, and Cynthia. They were in Monroe Co., NY in 1870 and in Passaic Co., NJ in 1880 and 1900. The Report of Death from NJ state records has lines drawn through Mother's name and Father's name (and said he had always lived in NJ, which I know is not true). Can anyone help me find his parents?? or give me any suggestions? Are there church records that would have this information? What church would it be?
