    3. Orvis, Turk, Fulmer, Booth, Matthews, Pond, & Fisher Thanks -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Nan Dixon Sent: Wednesday, January 17, 2007 7:52 AM To: Mailing list Subject: [NYJEFFER] Surname addresses The last two batches are up, and surnames are still coming in. That's good news for us! I am guessing (I didn't take the time to count) that nearly 100 names have been added in the past two weeks. Pat sure got things stirred up on the list! Now I am getting replies like this one: Delivery failed 48 attempts: [email protected] I cannot emphasize too strongly that in order for your surname to have results for you, people must be able to use your email address. That is the main reason I ask you to list your address next to your name and surname. I am not, and I repeat NOT computer savvy. I am willing to help, but you must make things easy for me. Looking at the above address, it is probably part of the 2 screens full of (to me) garbage in front of every email I download, and I guessed the wrong bit...on an email that did not contain a return address. One more thing: I admit to being a suspicious old woman, and when your spam filter asks me to contact you the second time to get information to you, it's not going to happen unless I know you and we have corresponded before. I have sent out acknowledgements for all of those surnames mentioned above, and to send out two letters...it's past my bedtime. If you want information from me, send me a note telling me that you have a spam filter and ask me to register, and that's a note from you, not your automated machine. One last bit: I'm receiving information indicating that some of you are not familiar with <http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyjeffer/> Check it out. It was the proud parent of this list back when the list was first formed. Pay attention to the FAQs. Hey, you might even get a clue to your loved and lost! 2. Bob Forsythe
    3. Forbes is a fairly common name, but I did go to high school with a couple of kids with that name. Think their father may have been a principal or something of that sort at West Carthage High School when it was still there (that would be prior to the building of Carthage Central High School around 1958 or so). -- Bob Forsythe Permit Project Manager Endangered Habitats Conservancy 619/584-4143 Quoting Nan Dixon <[email protected]>: > Surnames now up. 1. Re: [NYJEFFER] WRIGHT Surname in Jefferson Co. NY
    2. My Wright is at present, a tentative name. Family rumor/history lists my ggggrandmother as Henrietta Koons Wright Patterson. She lived in Allegany Co. NY in the only time frame I can place her. She married after the CW to my ggggrandfather Obed Patterson of Grove, Allegany Co. NY. Before that, I have no inkling as to where she was living. On her tombstone is listed Etta Koons Patterson. I have a feeling that she may have married a Wright before or during the war and that he died in the war. They had no issue that I am aware of. The earliest child is born after she married Obed. Sorry I can't help you either. NY Hello Vicki from WNY: I just read your message including surnames you are researching & it includes the WRIGHT name. I am researching Abigail ( at this time we believe her maiden name to be WOODSON/WOODSUM) WRIGHT whose known children were David b 1819/1820, Henry b 1824, Sarah b 1829 & Maria b 28 May 1832 in WIlna, Jefferson Co., NY. I am trying to confirm that Asa was her spouses given name. There is an Asa WRIGHT in Champion in the 1820 census & again in Champion in the 1830 census. I recently received a copy of a bankruptcy started in 1877 by ana Asa D WRIGHT & his brother John WIlliam WRIGHT, for land in Wilma Twp, but they lived in Denmark across the county line in Lewis & he was to young for my g,g,g,grandfather. Abigail was b in 1793 in MA. & the family is found with her as head of household in the 1850 census for Sangamon Co., IL with the above listed children. Are you researching any WRIGHT's in that area? My cousin recently had his DNA done for the WRIGHT surname project & it confirms ! that we descend from Deacon Samuel WRIGHT of Springfield & Northampton, MA. If anyone has information on this WRIGHT line, I would really appreciate hearing from you. I know Gov. Silas WRIGHT of St Lawrence Co., NY descends from him also.
