I have seen the info on rootsweb, too. It was helpful in filling in the blanks on the other sibs of Martin T Brown, our gggrandfather. One source mentions different parents for Almira (Tillapaugh) Brown, but I have contacted that person and they have no evidence to back that claim.. I do have her death record, 1872, Clinton Co. Michigan, and it states that Martin and Polly Tillapaugh were her parents. The same source claims parents for Lewis Brown, but again, no documentation, and I have contradictory info about that claim. I have e-mailed the Flower Library in Jefferson County, but I have not received any reply at all, at all, as we Irish say. I have also checked out the Jefferson County website, w/0 anything turning up. If you have any other links or suggestions for research. I may have to consider hiring someone locally, to get through this brick wall. I really enjoy the hunt myself, but can't seem to get through on this. Thanks again for your time, Judy Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I live in Michigan, and we, according to family memories, have family that lived in Black River in the 1830' and 1840's at least. Almira Tillapaugh, b.NY, 1813-1817, depending on record, daughter of Martin and Polly (MaCOMB) TILLAPAUGH, married a Lewis/Louis BROWN, (middle name possibly Henry), who was b.1810-11, NY. They came to Michigan in 1846, but I can find no death record for Lewis BROWN, or Martin and Polly (McCOMB/MaComb)TILLAPAUGH. Lewis died early, in 1859, but I don't know about Martin and Polly. My last record of them is in 1860. Did they go back to NY? I have tried about 20 spelling variations, but no luck. If you go to the cemetery again, could you check for these Names? I would be in your debt, and glad to do a Michigan favor for you in return. Judy Gleason, from Michigan Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. It would be wonderful it were true, but I suspect that a Jeffersonian had the Dicksee lithograph because it's a beautiful painting. For example, my father inherited 19th century lithographs with royal themes from his parents and grandparents. -----Original Message----- From: Florence Secor [mailto:maybelles@verizon.net] Sent: Sunday, August 10, 2008 6:07 PM To: Jefferson Website Subject: [NYJEFFER] JEFFERSON COUNTY DESCENDANTS OF KING CHARLES I Is there anyone on the list that is a descendant of King Charles I of England? I puchased a framed lithograph at a sale in Adams Center area in the early 1970s. It caught my interest. Over the years of I have researched Margaret Isabel Dicksee, whose name in on the lithograph. Previously have never been able to find reference to the litograph that I possess. A few days ago at google.com after entering Margaret Isabel Dicksee, I found a colored photo of the lithograph that I have. The picture is that of a woman in lounge wear in a high back chair with her head resting on a pillow. After entering King Charles I at google found another picture of his 5 children. I would guess that it is Mary, Princess of Orange (1631-1660), because Princess Anne died at age 4 and Princess Elizabeth died at age 15. Also there is a child sitting beside her. I cannot image someone in Jefferson County having this lithograph if there was not any family connection to it.
