Colonel Peter Bellinger was the regimental commander of the 4th Regiment, Tryon County militia during the Revolutionary War. The Tryon County militia was under the command of Brigadier General Nicholas Herkimer. These regiments fought in the battle of Oriskany on August 6, 1777.
