    3. The thread re: DAR records is very interesting to me since I am a member and also the Vice Regent of my chapter. I would like to make a couple of comments regarding different messages received this morning. >The DAR records grew just like the Mormon Church IGI files. Some of the >earlier ones >are solid gold and others are whimsy. You are right to say that some of the earlier one's are solid gold, however "some" is the operative word. Many of the earlier ones are not correct and are being questioned and when someone applies using them as a reference they are told that they must prove their data all over again. One of my Dietz line out of Schorarie is one that must have lineage proven again. In fact if you are applying for membership and are using as proof one of the older DAR applications we are told that we cannot join on the basis of that application. Try to correct one that is a bit >awry and see what reception you get. randy I could not disagree with you more. I have just had a supplemental that the service of the patriot has been wrong for 100 years. It is corrected now. When I asked what to do about correcting data on another line I was told to furnish the proof that what I had was correct and they would take care of it. The DAR is extremely dedicated to getting the correct lineage. Randy, Tell me, what kind of reception would I get? I'm planning a trip to DC just to question certain changes. Will it be a more positive or negative reaction? You asked Randy but let me tell you that if you go into National Headquarters and demand that something be changed you are going to get the same reception that you would get anywhere else, probably negative. Go in with your proof and an open mind and see what happens. The people who work in National Headquarters are nice people and willing to help. To sum it up, I have had nothing but positive experiences with the National Headquarters. One last note, I am not sure why the person sent DAR $10.00 for an approved application. The cost is $5.00 (at least as of a couple of months ago). But maybe there was some other reason that it cost her more. If anyone has any questions re: DAR, Membership etc please contact me privately.
