The 1867 directories are interesting in that for some persons they state a post office address in parentheses signifying that they did not reside where their mail was delivered. Sauquoit is a town in Oneida County. So your grandfather resided in Litchfield but his post office was in Sauquoit. I would assume that he lived quite close to the border.
