Hi Martha and all! Glad to see you back here, Martha, and so hard at work! Still love that Herkimer County page -- it is sooo the best! Anyway, in looking at the "HERKIMER COUNTY PLACE NAMES" page (http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyherkim/hplaces.html), I didn't see the names of "Elizabethtown" and "Spinnetville". I was told some relatives I am seeking might have lived there. Supposedly, the first village is located on a hill "going up the other gorge" out of Ilion (so I guess that means *not* the Frankfort gorge-?) and then Spinnetville is next door. I am posting this to the entire last because I think these two names need more "verification" than the little scrap of family info I found these names scribbled on! :-) I assume if anyone else here has heard ot them, then they can be added to the former German Flatts (?) place names -- right? Now secondly, anyone here know of the residents of Elizabethtown named BROWN? This family was affectionately called "ole hillbilly Browns" by the urbane Ilionites (!) I am particularly interested in TINE BROWN (given name is prolly Valentine; there are a number of NYS Valentine Browns). Tine would've been born about 1875-ish and *possibly* was the second husband of my greataunt Ida. Would love to talk to anyone who might know this family! :-) Thanks! Marsha Strong Gainesville, FL PS -- Does anyone know why there are two "TT's" in German Flatts?? Just curious......
