I am new to research in Herkimer and Montgomery Counties and would like to know if there are Historical Societies for Herkimer and Montgomery Counties that I might write to for information on my DAVIS and FOLTS (Z) families. The towns of Minaville, Charleston Four Corners and Herkimer are mentioned on my ggrandmother's death certificate. I have found my gggrandparents in the 1850 & 1860 Census records but are now looking for the names of their parents. Are there books that someone might recommend that would have records of baptisms/births/deaths or other means of research that you might recommend.
