Am interested in anything which can be provided concerning the surname STALL in NY state before 1850. My greatgreatgrandfather Thomas JOHNSON married Almira Ann STALL, who was born in Fairfield, Herkimer County, NY in 1807. She and her husband lived in Fulton County, NY for about 30 years prior to 1855, and then moved to Chicago. She died there in 1886. There were a lot of STAHLs as well as STALLs around Herkimer, Fulton and Montgomery Counties, so the surnames may have been variants of each other. Tom Johnston [email protected]
