Sorry about that- I thought you were one of us "States" guys. I live just down the coast from you, just a few miles south of Seattle. I know a lady who lives in Victoria. She is Aline Nicolls (Mrs. E.F.) -- a rill dandy genealogist you might do well to know. Aline is a ret. schoolmarm and long experienced in Mohawk Valley lore. She has no e-mail address. Do you think you'd like to find her? Probably she's in the phone book. To find data as far back as 1755 is no incidental task. Are you sure that the name was AVERY back in them thar days? 1755 in the Mohawk Valley suggests perhaps they came over on the urging of Sir William Johnson, if they were Irish, or Scottish. If it really was Van Avery, or some such, they might have come from the Kingston, Ulster County area. The maiden names of William's wife and mother would help. Do I gather from data you sent he left Cherry Valley before, or during the Revolution? His father, too, or was he in the NY Militia? In the meantime, back at the ranch, it looks to me that a Canadian sweep, perhaps in an LDS Family History Center is a good bet. You surely have those Centers in Vancouver, don't you? Their resources are hard to imagine unless been there to see what they have at their fingertips. randy -----Original Message----- From: Sheila Kenny <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Wednesday, March 24, 1999 6:37 PM Subject: Re: [NYHERKIM-L] Barker CD- AVERY?? >ask the Interlibrary Loan Service from your local library > > >Hi Randy >Thanks for your help- but I live on Vancouver Island (BC, Canada) and have >so far found that our library is unwilling /unable to do Inter-library loan >of this type. >I know that my William Avery b:1755 Cherry Valley- has to be in a book >somewhere!!
