This is my first visit to the Herkimer county list. My ggrandmother was Marietta Whaley. She was the daughter of Austin Whaley. Marietta was born in Herkimer county Oct., 18, 1864. I believe it was in West Winfield, N.Y. She married a Swedish immigrant, Albert Sampson. In Jan., 1888, they had their first and only child, Claude Clarence Sampson, born in Limestone/Killbuck, N.Y. Does the Whaley surname sound familiar to anyone on the list? I'm especially interested in trying to find information on my ggrandfather, Albert....where in Sweden did he come from...was there other Sampson family with him when he immigrated...is there "other" Whaley family in Herkimer county that would be interested in sharing information?
