One good place is to check the church records of Herkimer. Many of them are on microfilm at the LDS Family History Libraries. That is where I got a good deal of information on my ancestor of Herkimer. One record is called " Record of the Reformed Protestant Chruch of Herkimer " by Royden W. Vosburgh. It contains birth, marriage, death and member information. Many of the people of Herkimer were German Lutheran. I only copied a portion of this record pertaining to my ancestor and I didn't see the Orendorf surname, but it could be in the other pages, I believe that there was an index, it has been awhile since I got that info. If I run across anything on your ancestor I will send it your way. Hope this helps.
