    3. Audrey, My bet is that these names will be hard to find: > Sschuyler > Ke4llogg but you may progress much faster by going to the nearest Family History Center of the Mormon Church and working with the CDs they have. The reason for this is because you will find more in one hour's time there than the way you have begun. I have some of those names in my database, but they would be of interest to you only if the era's you know they belong to have any significance to those I have. One way to get underway would be to gather your family groups together and filling in a pedigree and then push your search along the lines, such as: Searching identifies of George and Clarissa (Mott) Kellogg born about 1820 to 1830 in the Town of Danube, Herkimer County, NY had the following children: Jacob, b. I'm trying to locate the nativity of my ggg-grandfather, James Miller, and the family of his birth: a.. James Miller, b 1785, probably in NY (but could be MA or CT); d 1868; buried, West Winfield Cemetery, West Winfield, Herkimer Co, NY; parents, unknown married a.. Almira Harrington, b 1794 in CT; d 1880; buried in West Winfield Cemetery, West Winfield, Herkimer Co, NY; parents, unknown I've traced their in Winfield, Herkimer Co, NY from as early as 1820 to their deaths. 1820 Federal Census, Winfield, Herkimer Co, NY_p42 1830 Federal Census, Winfield, Herkimer Co, NY_p171 1840 Federal Census, Winfield, Herkimer Co, NY_p153 1850 Federal Census, Winfield, Herkimer Co, NY_p136 1860 Federal Census, Winfield, Herkimer Co, NY_p731 Children: a.. Betsy b 1820 NY b.. Rachel b 1823 NY c.. James E. Miller, Jr. b 1825 Herkimer Co, NY d 18 Dec 1897 Lansing, Ingham Co, MI (James Jr. is my gg-grandfather) d.. Myron (cf. 1860 census) b Nov 1829 NY e.. Mary b Nov 1829 NY (twin w/Myron) f.. Ann b 1832 NY g.. Dorcus b 21 Apr 1836 NY I have enough documentation to prove my gg-grandfather is the son of James Miller, Sr. of Winfield. This family is also mentioned in the book Intimate History of Winfield, by Thomas W. Smith, (Heritage Press, Richfield Springs, NY 1979), pages 200-202. James Miller, Sr's family probably came out of New England into the Old England District of NY about the time of the Royal Grants, ca 1780-1785. I've got nothing against Palatine German Millers, but these Millers were of English descent. James, Sr. maybe the son of Samuel Miller of Otsego Co, and Almira maybe the daughter of Benjamin Harrington of Winfield, Herkimer Co, NY, I don't know. I hope you can help me sir. If you would like more information, please let me hear from you. Sincerely, Michael J.
