I am looking for info on the BOWNE family and who they are married to 1600 to present thanks Audrey Bowne Seattle gregbowne@earthink.net
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Maggie THOMPSON PEAKE taken at the S. C. Abbott Studio in Herkimer, New York. I would guess that the photograph was taken in the 1870's or 1880's and that Maggie was in her 20's or 30's at the time the photo was taken. I'm hoping to find someone from her family so that the photograph can be returned to its rightful place with family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
Hi Carolyn, Have you checked out all that rootsweb has to offer? In case you don't have it, the URL is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyherkim/familyvitals.html I noticed that you are also researching Moyer. I am a descendant of John J. Moyer, b.1833 and Malinda H. Fetterly, b. 1836. John is a brick wall for my branch. Would you happen to have any information that might help us out? If you need more information I'd be happy to provide it. Good luck, Nicci
Carlyn, one thing you gotta know is that IF you find a good librarian -- and there are LOTS of them, that this is the kind of problem they make mince meat out of in triple time. For such an event so recent, they probably can get this solved faster than anyone else I can think of. randy diefendorf Let us have a seance together if you are interested in my major hunt- diefendorf -- all spellings, all flavors - all branches of the family who settled in the Mohawk Valley. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carlyn Patton Miller" <Carlyn@fix.net> To: <NYHERKIM-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, March 20, 2002 9:44 AM Subject: [NYHERKIM] Obituary - Stark, Herkimer Co., NY (PATTEN) > I am looking for a person to direct me to the location of an obituary for my > ancestor as follows: > > Name: Catharine (Hawn) PATTEN > > Date of death: 18 SEP 1890 > > Place of burial: Ft. I'm going to go out on a limb here, and see if anyone can help me with this. My great grandfather, Robert Leslie BARNHART, b. 1862, married Fannie Grace ZURLINDEN, b. 4 Dec 1963 in Little Falls, Herkimer Co., NY. They were married in 1884. I had always thought they had gotten married in Pittsburgh, PA, but the other day my sister said "Don't you think they might have gotten married in Little Falls, since that's where Fannie lived?" Duh. She's got a great point there! I do know that Fannie ZURLINDEN's father, Samuel ZURLINDEN is buried in the Cemetery on (Church Street? I live on Church street, out in a little town in California!).... anyway, the suggestion is that R.L. BARNHART and Fannie ZURLINDEN got married in Little Falls. Makes sense to ME! Is there anyway to find out, since it was 1884 when they got married, and for "some reason" records are sketchy when one gets to 1884!!! Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you, Robert D. Mollenauer, Jr. Ridgecrest, CA
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Calvin G. BABCOCK of Newport, New York which was taken at the M. DeVerWestcott Studio in Cortland, New York. I believe the photograph was taken at the time that he graduated from the Cortland Normal School, likely in the 1890's. He appears to be in his late teens at the time the photograph was taken. I believe this is a photograph of Calvin Gatineau BABCOCK b. 8 Aug 1872 at Newport, NY to parents Calvin Gatineau BABCOCK + Lodenia GILE b. 14 Feb 1838 at Cooperstown, NY. I'm hoping to find someone from Calvin's family so that the photograph can be returned to its rightful place with family. Folks, William FAVILL who married Margaret KILLINGER in Philadelphia may possibly have Herkimer County connections... He died of Yellow Fever, unfortunately, and had no children that I am aware of. I am aware that there is a body of Herkimer County FAVILL(E) data, but am seeking to see if anyone knows of my William. Likely, he will be one of those "never found," but I am giving it a go! Thanks, Vince Summers
