    1. [NYHERKIM-L] DOXTATER-YOUNGS-ADAMS-THORP
    2. Mark Wentling
    3. I am searching for the ancestry of Bejamin YOUNGS and believe he may have been related to the DOXTATER or ADAMS family based on the will of his wife, Janette Wolcott of German Flatts, Herkimer Co., NY, made 2 May 1899. Janette's ancestry is fully traced and the families mentioned are not related to her so if they are relatives at all they must be from Benjamin's side. Here is what it says: Witnesses were Jonathan I. Adams of Mohawk and H.M. Doxtater of Mohawk. In the will she mentions daughters Minnie DOXTATER and Ella THORP, plus grandchildren Benjamin Franklin Doxtater, Mand(y?) BRADLEY, and Ella HARTER. She gave to daughter Minnie a parcel of land near Fulmer Creek in German Flatts known as the Anson MARCH place, bounded by land belonging to LeRoy Eckler. She gave to both daughters "share and share alike" the homstead standing on land comprised of lots originally conveyed to Benjamin Youngs by Solomon Ford in 1855, Basily(?) Grundy in 1860, and by Jacob Diefendorf in 1865. This is one of my most long-standing "brick walls" and I would appreciate ANY help! Thanks! Mark Wentling

    3. Looking for anyone with information on Benjamin YOUNGS, born 1818, died 1906, who married Janette WOLCOTT, born 1824, died 1902 (dates are taken from their tombstone inscriptions in Mohawk Cemetery, Town of German Flatts, Herkimer County). In the Directory of the Town of German Flats, from the Gazetteer and Business Directory of Herkimer County, N.Y. 1869-70 published by Hamilton Child & Co., Syracuse, NY 1869, Benjamin is listed as a dairy farmer. They had a daughter Ellen "Ella" Aljelina Youngs, born 19 April 1854, died 2 Jaunary 1931 in New Amsterdam. On 24 March 1875 in Herkimer she married John Jacob THORP, born 26 September 1848 in Rural Grove, Montgomery Co. Thanks! Mark Wentling
