    1. [NYHERKIM-L] Fort surnames
    2. I have seen several postings regarding the Fort and Groesbeck surnames. >From my many years of reading Dutch Church records, I am aware that at least one branch of the Fort family derived from Van Der Vort/Van Der Fort. This family was in and around Rensselaer Counties and at Half Moon, Saratoga County. Hope this helps Betty Fink

    3. Hi Kim, Have you seen the list of Groesbeck baptisms that were listed in Vol. 39 of NYG&B Record? All of the Groesbeck baptisms in the Schaghticoke Reformed Church from 1766 to 1855 are listed. I have a photo copy of the list. I am interested in any Groesbeck's which married into the Fort family. I have done some research on the line, but I can't recall which names. I have recently seen the Lansing name. It was linked with another line I am researching. I will save your messages and let you know what I find on either family. Richard Hayes [email protected]

Research Magazine, Vol. 49: issue 3, Spring 1986 A search for the GROESBECK family on PERSI gave me these publications, but it will probably take me a while to get to the library. I am not aware of the Vol. 39 - do you have the title or issue numbers? I am not sure if those baptisms will do me much good anyway - my most recent female Groesbeck ancestor was bearing children by her husband's name (Fonda) in 1740. I will keep my eyes open for the Fort family on your behalf. Kim

    1. [NYHERKIM-L] GROESBECK - Albany 1600s - 1700s
    2. I am looking for information on the following GROESBECK individuals from the Albany, New York, area: Nicholaas GROESBECK (b. abt 1624) m. Elizabeth. The had Stephanis GROESBECK (1699-1744) m. Elizabeth LANSING. They had Catherine GROESBECK bap. 28 Apr 1700 according to one source, and born 1 Jan 1727 according to another source. Did she marry Hendrick FONDA in 1745? Hendrick FONDA and Catherine GROESBECK's children were born between 1740 and 1760. The Catherine baptized in 1700 would have been hard pressed to been the mother of Hendrick FONDA's children. It looks like there is some generation jumping going on in the above data -- Was Nicholaas really 75 years old when he had Stephanis? All of these individuals are supposedly my ancestors, and I am looking for sources and data to solidify these GROESBECK lines. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Kim

    2. I am looking for information on the following LANSING individuals from the Albany, New York, area: Alida LANSING, 1685-1748, m. Isaac Douw FONDA 1708 in Albany, NY. Dau of Hendrick S. LANSING and Lysbeth CASPERS. Also, Elizabeth LANSING, wife of Stephanis GROESBECK (1699-1744). Alida LANSING and Isaac Douw FONDA had Hendrick FONDA. Elizabeth LANSING and Stephanis GROESBECK had Catherine GROESBECK. Hendrick FONDA and Catherine GROESBECK married in 1745. All of these individuals are my ancestors, and I am looking for sources to further these LANSING lines (which probably come together to an common ancestor). Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Kim
