    3. Judi, Thanks again for this info on Mary RASBACH and Mary KLOCK. Does the book say anything about where the ____ KLOCKs were living? I've checked census indexes and only found 1 reference and that was to Maynard KLOCK and only in 1830 in Johnstown, which is now in Fulton Co. Does it give anything on Mary Catherine's parents or on George MERRILL's? I'm trying to pin down where they were living and then figure out which MERRILLs were in the same area about the same time. I couldn't find any PREUSS in any of the indexes either. Is the book still available thru the Herkimer Historical Soc.? Thanks for your help? 2. Douglas Weaver
    3. I agree with Randy that Aline has done some great work. Her book on the "Weaver Families of the Mohawk and St. Lawrence Valleys" was a tremendous help in my work. Her work contains quite a few links to other early familes (pre-1800) from the area that married in to the Weaver clan. Aline moved just this month to a new home. Her address (effective 3/11/99), for those that with to correspond with her, is ... Aline (Weaver) Nicolls #3 - 1717 Blair Ave. Victoria, B.C. V8N 6G5

    3. I scanned the name listing for each of the 3 counties (Herkimer/Montgomery/Schoharie) on the Barker CD. Could not find any Avery listing. There may be some on it but they would have to show as a spouse to one of the other tribes listed.

    3. Sorry about that- I thought you were one of us "States" guys. I live just down the coast from you, just a few miles south of Seattle. I know a lady who lives in Victoria. She is Aline Nicolls (Mrs. E.F.) -- a rill dandy genealogist you might do well to know. Aline is a ret. schoolmarm and long experienced in Mohawk Valley lore. She has no e-mail address. Do you think you'd like to find her? Probably she's in the phone book. To find data as far back as 1755 is no incidental task. Are you sure that the name was AVERY back in them thar days? 1755 in the Mohawk Valley suggests perhaps they came over on the urging of Sir William Johnson, if they were Irish, or Scottish. If it really was Van Avery, or some such, they might have come from the Kingston, Ulster County area. The maiden names of William's wife and mother would help. Do I gather from data you sent he left Cherry Valley before, or during the Revolution? His father, too, or was he in the NY Militia? In the meantime, back at the ranch, it looks to me that a Canadian sweep, perhaps in an LDS Family History Center is a good bet. You surely have those Centers in Vancouver, don't you? Their resources are hard to imagine unless been there to see what they have at their fingertips. randy -----Original Message----- From: Sheila Kenny <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Wednesday, March 24, 1999 6:37 PM Subject: Re: [NYHERKIM-L] Barker CD- AVERY?? >ask the Interlibrary Loan Service from your local library > > >Hi Randy >Thanks for your help- but I live on Vancouver Island (BC, Canada) and have >so far found that our library is unwilling /unable to do Inter-library loan >of this type. >I know that my William Avery b:1755 Cherry Valley- has to be in a book >somewhere!! 3. Sheila Just saw the name Avery's and wondered if it was connected to an Avery's Restaurant that was in business for quite a while in this area. I'm sorry not to know the name of the town as it's a rural address but on a map if you look north of Rte 29a about five miles on Rt 10 (heading towards Speculator) it was located on the left side of the road. Had great food and has been greatly missed since it closed a year or so ago. It had been family run for years and was the home of my first waitressing job. Any connection? I've not had the opportunity to see what looks like an outstanding resource. We've had the names index to these volumes 3 and 4 on the Herkimer/Montgomery site for several months now. 3. Not sure how much this will help, but my AVERY line came from Connecticut (descendants of Christopher Avery of Devonshire) and settled in the Mohawk Valley in the latter part of the 1700's, then migrated north and west, covering Jefferson & Oswego Counties, and the mid-western states. Please see the information I have at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Meadows/1449/welcome.html Hope this helps!!! Sincerely, Mark A. Wentling
