    3. I found brief mention in a biography that says "The schooling was carried on in the Garlock School near Little Falls." Does anyone know which Garlock this would involve or be named after? With thanks. Darci http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~darci/

    2. Stephanie J. Walker
    3. I have created a new web site from my database of 105,000+ individuals that includes several families and numerous entries that may be of interest to those with ancestry in Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. There are individual pages for many families indexed on the surname page. The site includes pictures, maps and biographical info, as well as some general genealogy info and some good links. The site is searchable and includes a table of contents. It includes some Herkimer Co. names. 3. One way to nail that down would be to get someone to go to the County Offices where they have land transaction records. Ask them to have copies made. They would be easy to find and costs will be modest. The most you could accomplish (I think) is who bought/sold the property, perhaps a spouse's name, date of transaction, location and description (-- rods to -- thence to -- , and acreage), buyer, money involved. randy ----- Original Message ----- From: "joyce schumacher" <czaress@paxway.com> To: <NYHERKIM-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, August 28, 2001 8:58 PM Subject: [NYHERKIM] P R Joslin > Hello all > I'm looking for information on my g-g-g-grandfather P R Joslin/Joslyn. 3. Hi List, I'm trying to find information on Elizabeth GUILD, maiden name unknown. She died on August 18, 1866, and is buried in the Little Falls Cemetery. I've tried the Historical Society, but they have only an index card on her burial. I tried the City Clerk, but they only have information on burial plots beginning in 1882. What I'm interested in knowing is who else is buried with her, and hopefully learning her maiden name. Her obit did not disclose that information. She was born in Montgomery Co, NY in about 1816. Elizabeth was married to Galen Guild. The couple had two children (that I know of so far) who died early in childhood and may be buried along with their mother. Jane Elizabeth d. January 24,1839, and George G. d. October 1, 1846. They also had another daughter, Alma. She married Jacob H. ROBBINS in 1845. Does anyone know who Elizabeth's family was in Montgomery County, NY? I have no clue. Thanks, ~Michelle

    1. [NYHERKIM] Diner/Lunch Wagon query
    2. mike engle
    3. Hello, I am doing research on Diners and Lunch Wagons. My general coverage area is upstate New York, but I would be interested in hear about any stories relating to diners from anywhere. I am looking for any information concerning diners of the past or the present. This would include stories from former customers, former owners, pictures or any other recollections. It is always great to place a diner with a family and/or with some of its customers, as this is what a diner is really about. So if your family used to own a diner or lunch wagon, you know of people who did, or you went to a diner as a kid in your hometown, I would love to hear from you. 2. Michelle Campbell
    3. Hi All, I'm new to the Herkimer list, and am searching for the family of my ancestor Jacob H. Robbins. Jacob was born September 12, 1824 in Herkimer. But I haven't been able to conclusively place him with a family. At the present I have him as the son of Jacob and Maria Catharina (WEBER). Jacob and Maria (Weber) married January 21, 1821. She also went by the name Polly in some census records. I suspect he's from this family with the following siblings: Mary b. 1822, Nancy b. abt. 1826, Elizabeth b. 1830, Catherine b. 1832, David b. 1835, Margaret b. 1839, and Melissa b. 1844. Problem is that I have not been able to conclusively place my Jacob H. Robbins in this family through records. In the 1850 census he and his new bride Alma A. GUILD, (daughter of Galen and Elizabeth), were living close by Jacob and Maria Catherina (Weber) Robbins. And it's been assumed that Jacob H. Robbins was their son. But we all know where assumption can lead. I have most of the information on Jacob H. Robbins and wife Alma A. Guild after they married. But nothing to tie Jacob H. to a family. Does anyone have information on this Herkimer family? Thanks, ~Michelle

    3. Go to northern Herkimer County early in October, like the first week end. Then go to Big Moose and follow the Big Moose Road to the Stillwater Reservoir, then take the Stillwater Road to Number Four and follow that back to Lowville in Lewis County. The roads from Big Moose to Lowville are all forested and absolutely lovely (and they are dirt roads, usually well maintained). 3. Karen, it has been my experience that the time you arrive in that country is important. The leaves are usually beginning to turn by 9th of October, depending on whether there has been any frost. If the weather has been fairly warm then go up Rte 12 to Watertown. randy ----- Original Message ----- From: "karen e dau" <selway99@juno.com> To: <NYHERKIM-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, August 20, 2001 3:21 PM Subject: [NYHERKIM] Autumn Leaves > Hello List, > Where are some good places to photograph fall foilage in Herkimer County? > On my next genealogy visit I also want to do a camera shoot. > Karen in Rochester
