    3. I do not know if you are aware of it, but if you have access to ancestry you can do a search by first name. I have done this by getting the year and county that I want to search first and then key in the first name. Obviously if you have a common first name to check for, you can then break the search down into townships. It is not the fastest way but it has also been successful for me. In Wisconsin, where I live, there are many Endres names that are even indexed as Andrews, mainly due to the numerous languages being spoken here. A German speaking person doing the census may be talking to a Norwegian. Good luck. Sandie PS - In Madison, Dane Co., WI there is a Van Duesen Street on the southwest side of the city. 3. Sandie, If you are referring to the Wisconsin State Historical Society library located (or was at one time) on the campus of UW Madison, that is one of the greatest collection of genealogical data that I have found -- anyplace. Back in the 1970's when I first started searching my New York ancestors (including both Van Deusens and Delamaters - though not blood related to me) I spent an average of a day a week for over a year going through their New York section. They have their collection sorted by state. I found more data there than I did in multiple trips to the library in Albany. I've sorely missed that resource since leaving Milwaukee 20 years ago! Consider yourself lucky to live close to such a valuable resource.
