    1. Greene County Deeds Moved
    2. I've been telling researchers for years that they can find Greene County deeds, from 1800 to the present, at the Greene County Courthouse in Catskill. These records were recently moved to the new county office building located at 411 Main Street in Catskill, across the street from the Village of Catskill Police Department Headquarters. You are definitely going to like the new location. There is free parking next to and behind the building, as well as metered parking on the street. There are elevators and restrooms on each floor. The ladies' room on the second floor has three stalls, three sinks and a fold-down diaper changing table. I can't provide details on the men's facilities, but I assume they are comparable. Water fountains are just outside the restrooms. Police and metal detectors are stationed at each entrance. All briefcases and bags are searched when you enter the building. Food and water are not permitted in the building and will be confiscated. The clean, air conditioned, well-lit Records Room is located on the second floor if using the elevator, or street level if you enter the building through the front doors. No more ladders to climb. All of the books are shelved either under the tables or on racks around the room. Besides deeds you will also find mortgages, Records of Incorporation, maps and some census records in this room. Photocopies are 25 cents per page. The copy machine takes coins and bills. The only thing you will have to grow accustomed to is the chorus of ringing cell phones that all of the employees from title and abstract companies carry.
