Hello fellow researchers. I am pround to announce that the Tracing your Roots in Greene Co website is now, officially, in its 6th year! Our birthday was yesterday, May 1st. Wow! Who would've thought that a "little" project of a Greene Co webpage would've grown into such a great (and I say this modestly :-)) research tool. Once again, my profuse thanks to all contributors to the site, whose unselfish sharing of material and transcription help have made this a true tool to researchers of Greene Co. genealogy and history. My particular thanks to Annette Campbell, who was with me at the birth of this site, and continues to be its number 1 supporter. Also, my sincere thanks to Arlene Goodwin, who for years has transcribed reems of material for the site, even though she lives in Indiana and has no connection to Greene Co. We lost Arlene's assistance this year to poor health. And thank you to all the recent volunteers, who jumped into the breach to transcribe over a years worth of obituaries from 4 newspapers. You guys - and gals - are wonderful! What's coming this year? Well, lots of things! In the pipeline: 1) More cemeteries - my personal project - looking to transcribe, Pleasant Valley, Ashland, Fairlawn in Prattsville, Elka Park, Hunter, Old Section Chestnut Lawn (fingers crossed), Earlton Community cemetery and a bunch of small ones in New Baltimore 2) Church records - I have, ready for transcription - Gloria Dei Episcopal (Palenville), Simpson Memorial Methodist (Palenville), St. Paul's Lutheran (Oak Hill), Kiskatom Methodist Circuit (Catskill), Blue Mountain Reformed (Ulster Co, but lots of Greene Co folk in there) 3) Greene Co Town Clerks Records of the Officers, Soldiers and Seamen of the Civil War 4)All kinds of great stuff!
