There was a big Root family that settled in the Marshall and Peoria counties in Illinois in the first half of the 1800's. I am not related to this family, but Alphonsene Sickles (Sickels) married an Amos Root in Illinois. She is the daughter of Christopher Sickles and Mary Wickham.
