I guess I didn't phrase my question properly. By deeds etc., I meant those we've paid to get for our genealogical research. I wouldn't want them to burn up in a fire or be lost in a flood such as Katrina. Thanks. My lawyer also has a copy of wills, powers of attorney, etc. In Maryland, the state does not seal your safe deposit box upon death. I have put my daughter on the list to access the box. If you live in a state that seals the box upon your death, this is not a good idea.
