Thanks for the reply. I have run across Anson Strong from the great Greene County web page. I have run down all the Strong's I can find in the Two Durham's who were having families in the 1793 era. I think John Strong, Selah's brother spent some time in Durham, NY and I saw him listed someplace as one of the revolutionary war soldiers from Greene County. The rest of the Durham Strong's who were of the age to have families in the era have families that would conflict with William's birth. John married a year or so after William's birth and I have guessed that he might have had a prior marriage or arrangement. I have looked at the female Strong's also and it doesn't appear that an illegitimate birth would fit either. William was sworn as a freeman in Durham, CT in 1803. Thanks for the hint.
