Hi all, Roger A. Newman Newman and maybe Norton are the names. hope I don't send this twice, but??? Best I can guess, Newman is from Connecticut and before the Revelution many of them started moving west, by the late 1800's many were in Greene County. None today I guess, as they all moved on, same with Connecticut. After the War of 1812 my gg-grandfather[vet], James likely moved through Greene Co. and ended up in what is today Lanesboro, the NE courner of Pa. His son Martin married a Norton and moved back to Oak Hill in Greene Co. for quite a few years. My grandfather Adin was born there, and the homested is still there. I only found one Newman stone in Oak Hill Cemetery. There were other Newmans living there at the time and I'd like to find out if they were related. If the fact that Norton Hill is just down the road a bit is important, I don't know? Martin moved a lot and ended up in Chippewa Falls Wisconsin, there were other Newmans from Greene County that lived around there also. Any, that is, "any" conection is very appreciated. There were tons of Newmans all over the place once, they apparently all moved to Mars and left no forwarding address. Sorry, I am traveling so this is not my computer, I am having a terrible time with it, but want to make roll-call. Along with that, I can't type, can't spell and my grammer is hurting, maybe thats why the Newmans don't answer back? I was in Greene County, Durham, Oak Hill, last Sept., I live in Illinois, and would like to thank all the kind, not related, people who helped me while I was there. I'd move back if I could. Thanks also to Sylvia for this sight and hard work, it's for us all. Roger A.
