I have a mystery in the family regarding a Sarah Simmons. She was the mother of Julia AMES who married William Henry Palmatier. My biggest problem in solving this mystery.... was Simmons Sarah's maiden name? or did she marry an Ames first and then a Simmons? Or was Julia a Simmons, who married an Ames before she married Palmitier? My source of this puzzle is an inscription in a family bible. 'Sarah Simmons to daughter, Julia Ames' Julia was born in 1834. I surmise she was born in Dutchess Co. and lived in Ulster Co. I keep hoping someone will be able to give me answers to this mystery.
