Hello, My Maynards lived in Big Hollow (now Maplecrest) near Windham, Greene County, from around 1820's to 1874-ish. Francis "Frank" Maynard, son of Charles and Paulina Merriman Maynard, probably had a brother named Hiland who died while serving in the Civil War. Frank served also, enlisting at age 45 toward the end of the war and he caught Malaria at "Dismal Swamp", Virginia and suffered with it for the rest of his life. Frank married Emma who was also listed as Eliza; judging from her age and proximity to where Frank lived before he married, she may have been a Davis. 1850 Census for Windham: DAVIS, William 50, Farmer, Eveline 48, Corydon 17, Fanny 15, Mary 11, Angelina 19, Eliza 14. [Eliza is likely to be my Emma--Eliza E. Maynard] Sylvia has researched Frank's land records for me. Paulina seems to have remarried Samuel (?) Mallory. The Windham town historian provided me with some information about Paulina. Frank's children Charles (born abt 1858), Elmer (born abt 1859), and Clara "Carrie" (born abt 1863) were born in Big Hollow. Anyone related? --Allyson McKenna _atmack@aol.com_ (mailto:atmack@aol.com)
