    1. Re: [GREENE COUNTY] Roll Call - Simmons
    2. Hi Jackie, It looks like you and I are stuck in the same time warp (between 1800-1840). There were so many Simmons/Simon's in Dutchess and Columbia counties during this time (and from the mid to late 1700's) and they liked to use the same baptismal names and are more likely known by their middle name or nickname of their middle name. I haven't spent much time on Ulster Co. Simmons/Simon's because mine bypassed THAT county. Sorry that I couldn't be much of help on this mystery. She was the mother of Julia AMES who married William Henry Palmatier. My biggest problem in solving this mystery.... was Simmons Sarah's maiden name? or did she marry an Ames first and then a Simmons? Or was Julia a Simmons, who married an Ames before she married Palmitier? My source of this puzzle is an inscription in a family bible. 'Sarah Simmons to daughter, Julia Ames' Julia was born in 1834. I surmise she was born in Dutchess Co. and lived in Ulster Co. I keep hoping someone will be able to give me answers to this mystery.
