The families mentioned here are on the same page of the Catskill 1810 with my John Schermerhorn thus; Abraham Hollenbeck, Caspar Klauw, John Van Hoesen In 1820 at Athens - cross over families William Tully,Abraham Spoor and Nicholas Van Loon. I believe the John Schermerhorn at Catskill in 1810 and Athens in 1820 are the same man. A john Schermerhorn had a daughter christened 1799 at Athens his wife was Hendrickje Van Hoesen - no other children mentioned. Natie Groom was the sponsor. In my website under "Short History of Tully:" I show the connections of several families that moved together from Greene Co /Coxsackie Athens Catskill area to Tully/ Preble NY area between 1802 and 1820. These are all families I have in my tree. These are the only families I have studied from that area. Mainly the families are of Dutch Coloniak origin. Most were among the original families in early Albany Co/Rennselaer employee tennant families. They include Hallenbeck, Klauw, Van Hoesen, Van Loon, Calyer, Spoor, Conyn, Van Vechten (this was the common family that the others married into, of the Tully group) My Van Buskirks were in Manhattan in 1654 and a few of them were in the Coxsackie area by 1720s, my ancestor bp1731 near New York, married a Maria Klauw bp1738 at ZionLutheran Church Athens, maried 1760 at same church. Their son John married Eva Spoor, both were baptized at Zion Lutheran at the same service January 1762 married about 1780. All of their 9 children and they themselves came to Preble /Tully area, One went on to Michigan, the others remained and raised families in the area. These are thefamilies I refer to. I have made a lot of progress on the early families , nothing later than 1800 in the Greene Co area. I hope that helps you know where I may be able to help someone. good luck.JOHN C VAN BUSKIRK http://www.geocities.com/vanbus1/ jvanbus1@twcny.rr.com ----- Original Message ----- From: <clideryce@starband.net> To: <NYGREENE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 29, 2005 11:34 PM Subject: Re: [GREENE COUNTY] Van Buskirk site, (was New to list) > John wrote: > > Half of my family are > > Greene Co based, and or Columbia Co, many both. Hi All of the names you cite are familiar, they are repeated many times in each family, but again mosat of my data stops a generation too soon. I did check Schermerhorn, and founnd eleven times that one of them married into my family tree. one in Valkenburgh, 4 in Winne, 3 Hallenbeck, 3 bradt, also van vechten, and one Simon J Schermerhorn was the first husband of WillemjeViele who married Levanus Winne, back in the late 1600s. I do not have any connectors in the Schermerhorn lines. I have my files in family tree maker. I can do genealogy reports, rather lengthy by attachments. It may be overwhelming to send the reports to show a single marriage. Or I can send a dozen smaller clips. They would not showthe family naming patterns. Can you find more on the individuals in Catskill in 1810? I am sure they belong within my families, perhaps even in the immediate family I stop with. Let me know how to proceed.
