Hi Merri, Buried with Albert Gay and his wife Mary was presumed son Calvin Gay, b. Apr 1, 1856, d. Nov 2, 1893. Maybe the same as the Cal mentioned in your bible? On the Hallenbeck siblings - I've got Mary, but not her parents - two Emmas married a Perry, one known to be a Hallenbeck. Maybe if you wrote up the bible for inclusion on Sylvia's website we could all take a crack at it and maybe get you back a little farther. I've been wondering if Albert was the same one baptized at Catskill Reformed on 31 Aug 1821." - from Jim Brady All I know about Thomas Gay's parents are their names, the information was found in a family Bible. Thomas Gay was born 8 May 1839, m. Kate Hallenbeck 2 Oct 1870, so the birth dates of Albert and Maria could be possible. Thomas was the second eldest child. His siblings were John, Ada (married a Thomas), Alice, Mime, Carrie (married a Sager), Harrison, Bub (do not know his given name) and Cal. The last three are noted in the Bible as "sailors who died on the ocean." And I think Limestreet is a familiar location, seems I found Thomas at that address in a directory. Kate's siblings were Emma (m. a Perry, possibly they are the ones buried at Colleburgh Cemetery, Athens), Josephine (m. Frank Spoor), Frances (m. a McCarthy), Mary (m. Elijah Powell), Gertie (m. a Baker and moved to Oakes, ND, to live with her brother after she was widowed), Laura, Henry, and Charlie (moved to Oakes, ND). Kate was born 28 Sep 1847, d. 2 Mar 1895. The cemeteries I work at are in Mitchell County, Iowa. Check out our website at http://www.rootsweb.com/~iamitche. We have almost all cemeteries transcribed except for a couple of the larger ones. But we don't have near as many as Greene County has. One other note: my great-grandma Bessie Gay Bird, Thomas' daughter, was full of "mountain stories and superstitions." I just wanted to ask some of you to verify this for me. She called the small white spring flowers "poss-bloomies." Did that name originate from the Catskills?
