Hello List, I've been silent for some months now ( 2x hurricane damages, etc). But, I will say this, Sylvia has been most helpful on anything & everything I've ever requested, including cemetery records & Greene county records or history. Saying that, she has shown me ways to find the records for myself, which always were "free", correct & online. (I have verified with alternative sources) If you ask Sylvia nicely & politely, she will, at her expense, send you material of historical value for you to own personally. People, let's not underestimate her or "bite the hand that feeds us". Sylvia is a one of a kind....dilligent, trust worthy, honest & true to genealogy. Let's not destroy her faith in us as a worthy genealogical mailing list & PLEASE SYLVIA, do not let the ill comments of others destroy all of your hard work & all of your good intentions. On this list, you have been my hero. A big thanx to you! Gina searching for: (Garrison) in Ulster, Greene, Orange, Rockland) Yes, the old section of Chestnut Lawn may well be possible - just for you Jim!! :-) Just so everyone knows, if I say transcribed by Sylvia Hasenkopf in June 2004 or whatevber date, that means I walked that cemetery myself and transcribed each stone. If I post a transcription obtained from the DAR or an older transcription from somewhere else, then I will say that is so. And yes, that means I've transcribed over 200 cemeteries myself, here in Greene Co.

On this list, you have >been my hero. A big thanx to you! Did I miss something? I thought I was paying attention here. Oh, I see my name referenced below. Gina, you need to understand, Sylvia loves feedback. She asks for it on a regular basis. It's a way to jump start the list when things are quiet and/or she's re-energized from two weeks in Cancun, or whatever. E-mail is often a difficult language to decipher as you can't see the non-verbal tics, winks, knowing smiles, etc. So while my feedback may seem critical to you, I'm assuming that after five years worth of e-mail conversations with Sylvia that she knows where I'm coming from, so to speak. I've never known her to be incapable of defending herself. Forcefully, when needed. I have a great deal of respect for Sylvia and assume, perhaps wrongly, that she feels the same for me. NAH!, we're buddies. (Feel free to jump in here Sylvia.) If you do feel respect for Sylvia, and that also goes for many others on this list, you can pay her no higher compliment than to participate fully on this, her, list. I subscribe to one list, among others - Dutch Colonies, for really early research - that has the most brilliant researchers that I've ever heard from. Not that we don't have them here also. However, one or two of them (not the smart ones on that list), for whatever reason, are so snotty that they have managed to reduce participation on the list. Over really petty issues. They've just cowed people into silence. So, again, you can pay Sylvia no higher compliment that to be an active participant on this list. Sylvia: I must say this is one of the most informative sites that I have visited and supplied info for and most are appreciative of the fact. I only wish that persons would remember that the old ways were the ways of the times and we are in a new version of the old ways. What we put down in the old way is preserving not revision to make it more palatable for the readers. That now said Sylvia I would be glad to help in typing for the list. I have some older obits as I have collected them since 1998 and maybe some from before from Mountain Eagle and other newspapers.
