    1. Re: [GREENE COUNTY) Rice Family

    3. Hi Bernice, I'm not sure if our families connect or not, but the surname RICE caught my eye - amongst the many emails that have been generated since the official roll call. My earliest ancestor Rice was through my mother's father (Harold Rice Van Derzee). I can take things back only to his grandfather, John Rice (born abt. 1854). John Rice was married to Susan Hess and they had at least 6 children according to a census image I found. Please let me know if any of this sounds familiar or if you think we may have common ancestors. I haven't had much luck beyond John Rice - although I've been told to start looking in Pennsylvania for both the Hess and Rice families. 1. Re: [GREENE COUNTY) Rice Family Hess family
    2. Rene'
    3. Hello, I've been searching the Hess family in particular Henry Hess b. 1782 who married Sally Permelia Axtell b. 1797. They had 3 children that I know of Mary Ann b. 1827 who married Stephen Getter; Joseph A. b. 1839 who married Jeanette Groat; and Susanna b. 1823 who married James Turner. Have you by any chance run into these names? Thanks, Rene' -------Original Message------- From: Kim Echols Date: 09/25/05 13:27:30 To: NYGREENE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [GREENE COUNTY] Re: [GREENE COUNTY) Rice Family Hi Bernice, I'm not sure if our families connect or not, but the surname RICE caught my eye - amongst the many emails that have been generated since the official roll call.
