Thurlow apprenticed to Mackay Croswell, who was the first printer, I think, in Catskill. Mackay started the Albany Packet and other newspapers; his brother Edwin went to Hudson and did newspapers there. After being sued by Thomas Jefferson, Edwin went back to CT and became a prominent minister. There is information on the Greene Co page about Thurlow and his newspaper days.
