Hello, I have copies of a property record of my great-great grandfather Francis "Frank" Maynard, who lived in Greene Co. NY possibly from his birth in 1820 until around 1874. I think the property was in Big Hollow, now called Maplecrest, part of Windham, I believe. My ancestors' signatures were witnessed by Austin B. Hitchcock, Justice of the Peace, on April 21, 1877, so I have a copy of his signature. I also own a book called "Big Hollow: A Mountaintop History Maplecrest, Windham, NY" written by Elwood Hitchcock. Published 1993 by... Black Dome Press Corp. RR1, Box 422 Hensonville, NY 12439 (518) 734-6357 Here's part of the introduction: ".....It was in this lonely, isolated, uninhabited basin of virgin timberland that Deacon Lemuel Hitchcock, his wife Mamre and their nine children came on an ox-sled in the mid-winter of 1795. A crude cabin was built by Lemuel and his oldest son, Thomas, the previous autumn. Lemuel, who had been a captain in the Revolutionary War, was a religious man, and desired to bring up his children in a spiritual atmosphere." In the book, there's a photo of Mose Hitchcock, blacksmith, with Elwood Morrow. There's also a photo of Platt Hitchcock's house and barns in 1886, "currently the Wilfred C. Hitchcock home" on Route 56. There's a group photo that includes William, Harold, and Dwight Hitchcock, taken around 1912. Another photo of Rose Hitchcock, teacher, and her pupils, including Grace and Harold Hitchcock. Taken in 1898. Yet another school photo with Eva and Elwood Hitchcock. And biographical sections on the Zalmon, Platt, and Lemuel Hitchcock families. Regards, Allyson McKenna
