Does anyone out there know where this cemetery is located? I'm planning a visit to Greene County in June and would like to take a side trip to this cemetery to take a picture of the headstone. I have 2 ancestors buried there. They are Lemuel Raymond (1789-1839) and his wife, Fanny Roach (1798-1860). I know it's in Saugerties, Ulster County. I just thought if anyone lives near there perhaps they could help. I'd like to know directions. Thanks Barbara Florida

I know of a Mountain View Cemetery near the New York - Vermont border. But I'm thinking that's not the one you are looking for? Could it be the Mountain Valley Cemetery in Ashland, Greene Co.? It is also known as the Sutton Hollow Cemetery. It is located on County Route 10, about a quarter of a mile east from the intersection with Sutton Hollow Road. The right of way to the cemetery is directly opposite a large blue house (may not be blue now), and adjacent to the barn. I got this information from the Tombstone Transcription project and visited the cemetery last summer to get pictures of the graves of some of my ancestors. It is a beautiful cemetery and well maintained. I don't, personally, know of a Mountain View Cemetery in Greene County, but there is much I don't know about and I thought this could be a possibility for you. Mt View Cemetery in Saugerties is located on Main St, just outside of the Village. While in Saugerties, visit Rich Frisbee, at Hopefarm Press, bookstore on Main St. Not only will he tell you where the cemetery is, you can have a look around at the NY State history books he has.
